4″ MAF vs. Stock MAF for TBSS Intakes

Which Intake Is Right For Me?

4” MAF vs. Stock MAF

While both our 4” LS7 MAF and stock MAF intakes will yield gains close to each other (within 5-10hp on a 400rwhp/480 flywheel hp truck), the tuning is different between them. The stock MAF versions will not require any repinning/conversion harness for the MAF. Our 4″ LS7 MAFs do require you to either repin the harness, or to use a conversion harness. The stock MAF version intakes are excellent for stock/bolt on vehicles, and the 4″ LS7 MAFs are generally preferred if the vehicle is heavily modified or cammed. You will need a tune before starting/driving a 4″ LS7 MAF equipped intake.

PCM of NC Intakes are 4″ tubing (with a 3.5″ bend if reusing the stock MAF) which allows for better flow than intakes that are all 3.5″ intakes. Because of the larger tubing, our intakes will all require electric fans (excellent modification anyway!) as otherwise the tubing will get into the stock fan shroud.

Standard Airbox vs. DIY/Fenderwell

Our standard airbox kits reuse the stock airbox. This allows you to retain your factory windshield washer setup, and you will not be required to drill any holes in the truck. The DIY/Fenderwell will yield more horsepower (7-20rwhp+ depending on modifications), but require you to remove/relocate the washer tank (we sell a relocation kit) and also drill a 4.25” hole in the fenderwell. Our fenderwell intakes pick up fresh air right behind the bumper on the passenger side.
