One of the best modifications you can do for your Trailblazer SS is an electric fan kit. Taking the heavy load of the stock fan off of the motor frees up about 15hp, to the rear wheels. This often helps gas mileage as well. There are a couple other added bonuses of the electric fan kit, including computer controlled on/off temps, and more room in the engine bay for piping or coolers.
Our kits install very clean; our goal was to make it look factory. Our harnesses utilize weatherproofed connectors for long term use and abuse. Installation is very simple! The wiring harness has two ring terminals, one goes to ground, and the other to a power source – both which we specify in the instructions. Then there are two wires that are added to the ECM connector for the computer control. We supply the information on how and where to put them as well.
Lastly, the fans need to be enabled in the ECM using HP Tuners. This is called the ‘fan patch’. It is included with the cost of the harness, you just cover shipping to send in your ECM. Or, you can download the patch from our website and apply it yourself if you have HP tuners. We have a how to video HERE.
We offer two electric fan kits. They also support the 5.3L version of the Trailblazer, as well as 5.3L GMC/Saab GMT360 platform. All of our kits are three relay kits – which means they will bring both fans on at half speed for low, and both fans on at full speed for high. The fans will also run when the air conditioning is on, based on pressure. Typically we bring the low fans on around 195 degrees, and the highs around 217, although we can change this to suit your needs.
Our first kit is the LS1 fan kit. This uses the plastic fan assembly from a 1998-2002 Camaro/Firebird V8. It requires some trimming but we include all hardware and bracketry.
