Information on Fan Kits

One of the best modifications you can do for your Trailblazer SS is our TBSS LS1 Electric Fan Kit. Taking the heavy load of the stock fan off of the motor frees up about 15hp, to the rear wheels. This often helps gas mileage as well. There are a couple other added bonuses of the electric fan kit, including computer controlled on/off temps, and more room in the engine bay for piping or coolers. The kit is pretty simple to install, and comes with all instructions. It takes about 2-3 hours for your average hobbyist mechanic to install.

What is included with the Fan Kit?

Our LS1 fan kit for the Trailblazer SS includes a harness, hardware, and brackets to mount the kit – link. The fans are sold separately here – link. The fans are the plastic fan assembly from a 98-02 V8 Camaro or Firebird, so you can source them on your own as well. There is a main harness that powers the fans, and also a sub harness to add control pins to your ECM. The kit will also require the ECM (engine control module) to have the fan settings patched. We host these settings online, or if you do not have access to HP tuners, you can email in your ECM and we will patch it for free (you just need to cover shipping). Our normal turnaround for programming is 24 hours.

On a 2006-2007 TBSS, you must patch the ECM at the same time as the electric fan install. On an 08+ however, you can patch the fans ahead of time before the install if you like, it will not effect operation of the factory fan.
