Description

If you are dropping an LSx drivetrain into an older hot rod, you will need to have the engine computer reflashed to ignore systems that are no longer used. This is a basic hot rod tune meant to get the vehicle running, intended for mostly stock engines. It does not include performance enhancements for modifications such as camshafts, injectors, etc.  If you have modified the engine, we would recommend a full tune: LINK HERE.

All Hot Rod Start Up tunes include disabling Anti-Theft Security (VATS/Passlock). Select further options as needed, and then send in your ECM to us for programming. Normal turnaround time is 1-2 days. We support almost any LS based computer 1997-2013. If you do not have an ECM for your swap and need to buy one, give us a call and we can set you up with a core!

Note: We assume most swaps will retain the primary (upstream) oxygen sensors, and we leave them active.  We typically retain the knock sensor control and do not recommend deleting them.  It is typical to disable and remove codes for the downstream o2 sensors, EVAP, EGR, secondary air injection, DOD/AFM cylinder deactivation, etc… depending on your donor powertrain’s equipment (not all applications will have all of these controls).  Important sensors to keep:  MAP, ECT, crank signal, cam signal, upstream o2 bank 1 & bank 2, VSS/OSS, TPS, IAC, TAC module (Gen-3 DBW), MAF/IAT (see below).

Speed Density? If you do not wish to run a Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor, we can setup the ECM to run in speed density mode.  This is especially useful in swaps with limited space or that would have to put the MAF in a compromised location. IE: directly in front of the throttle body.  Important: If you have a 5-wire MAF connector, the Intake Air Temp sensor (IAT) is built-in to the MAF.  So, when deleting the MAF you must wire in an IAT sensor connector or use a breakout harness.  Harnesses with a 3-wire MAF should already have a separate IAT sensor.  Speed density mode may also be used with the MAF plugged in- it will only be used for IAT readings at that point, so its location is not important.

Transmission Changes?  If your swap originally came with a 4L60e, 4L80e, 6L80e, etc. and you are using a non-computer Auto or manual transmission, select the option to delete the automatic transmission.  If you are retaining the computer-controlled transmission, the gear ratio and tire size is used to calibrate the ECM’s internal speed calibration so that the shift points stay in the right place. Even if you do not plan to use the ECM’s output to run a speedometer, it is recommended that this be setup.   It is not as important to have an accurate speed calibrations if you are running a manual or non-computer auto.  For 4L60/4L80e applications, we recommend running a factory style PRNDL switch.  If your harness does not have a PRNDL and you would like it deleted, add a note at checkout.  In manual trans  applications, we will disable CAGS (skip-shift) but we do not typically delete the clutch pedal safety -if you would like it deleted, leave a note at checkout.

Electric Fans:  We can add dual electric fan controls if your ECM/PCM doesn’t already have them enabled.  We typically setup the Fan 1 output at 195 degrees, and the Fan 2 Output at 205 degrees.  If you would like different On/Off temps, leave us a note at checkout.  These fan outputs are not required to be used – so if you are unsure whether you need them or not, it wouldn’t hurt to add them just in case.

Gear Ratio/Tire Height: See transmission changes above.  Only necessary in some cases.  If you don’t know or haven’t decided yet, just put “N/A” and we will leave it alone.  This can always be changed later, if you want.
