Some GM vehicles are “E85 capable” but do not use a flex fuel sensor, or fuel composition sensor. A fuel composition sensor is installed in the fuel line and can sense how much alcohol is in the fuel. Lots of OEM GM cars came with fuel composition sensors but many did not. If they didn’t come with this sensor but
If you are swapping to a 4l80 in a vehicle with a factory 4 speed (either 4l60, 4l65, or 4l70) consider our 4l80 swap harness. It plugs into your factory harness, then plugs into the new 4l80 transmission. There are a few tune changes that need to be made. These changes are simple to make on your own and included
Why buy HP Tuners for mail order tuning? Typically the process for getting a mail order tune is to send us your stock computer, we edit, and send it back. That process puts your vehicle down for at least 3 business days at the very least – with shipping back and forth. Shipping costs, especially expedited, can really get expensive
When installing a cam, the misfire timers need to be desensitized in the tune, otherwise they will constantly roll over false misfire counts. Usually a misfire will feel obvious, as a break up under load, or loss of power. We can also tell this by reviewing a datalog. Under heavy load (PE) the mixture will be rich. On a stock
What does a tune do to a car or truck? The majority of LSx & LTx (Late Model GM) vehicles can benefit from tuning, even in stock form. Using HP Tuners software, we modify many tables in the engine and transmission control modules that come together to make a big difference in power and responsiveness. Typically we modify things such
What is an f-body? The term “fbody, f-body, f body” refers to Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebirds from 1967 until 2002. This includes first through fourth generation. We offer parts and tuning for Third generation (1982–1992) and Fourth generation (1993–2002) f-bodies. Fourth generation f-bodies came with either the 3.8L V6, or the 5.7L V8 engine. The 1994-1997 f-body had an
What is a catch can? Oil catch cans prevent oil and contaminants from being consumed by your vehicle, and also prevent build up which can contribute to other issues. The catch can is plumbed into the vehicle’s PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system. What is a PCV System? The PCV system is designed to keep the air in the crank case
What is AFM? AFM stands for Active Fuel Management, and is also referred to as Displacement on Demand. This was offered in 2007-2018 GM applications such as Silverado, Sierra, Camaro, Corvette, and more. AFM/DOD refers to the shutting off of four cylinders for alleged better fuel economy. What is DFM? DFM stands for Dynamic Fuel Management, and is also referred
Swap a 4l60 to a 4l80 A popular swap in the LS world is upgrading to a 4l80 transmission from a 4l60e or a 4l70e. Each platform will be a little different; but typically you would need to change the transmission, transmission mounts, driveshaft, and shifter assembly. The tricky part of the 4l80e swap is the wiring and ECM control.
How do I remove/reinstall my ECM and/or TCM? What different methods do you offer to obtain tuning? What is a security or a CASE relearn? When do I need it? What fuel octane should I run? What is a speed density tune? Why am I getting a MAF Code? What sort of AFR should I look for on my forced
