We were thrilled when this previous customer reached out to us about installing an LS1 setup into his Firebird Formula – a unique project indeed! We had previously worked on this car a few years back when it still had the stock motor – we had rewired in an LS1 PCM and dyno tuned it.
A veteran of many Hot Rod Power Tours, this car is ready for 2014 with some serious extra power and modifications.
We started with a stock LS1 bottom end, and added a PCM of NC custom grind cam. We sent the heads off to Phil at Advanced Induction for a proper port & polish. Long tube headers, a custom cold air intake, and a custom exhaust by Farrell Creations and Restorations were also put in place. A T56 transmission built by RPM Transmissions in Indiana is putting the power to the ground, with a Monster clutch and a Quick Time Bellhousing as well.
To sweeten the deal, a TVS 2300 capped off the build, at about 13-14lbs of boost. After dyno tuning, the car put down an impressive 657rwhp & 627 ft/lbs. This car is the whole package – great looks, great sound, and some serious performance to back it up! The great driveability at that power level is a huge plus as well.
