If you would like to remove DOD/AFM (displacement on demand, four cylinder mode) system from your ECM, please use this listing. We can also remove VVT if selected. (Only necessary if mechanically removing VVT – we do not suggest deleting VVT in the ECM unless you have physically removed it from the engine, or have installed a phaser lockout.)
Send in your ECM and we will perform a DOD delete tune permanently, so that it will only run in V8 mode. This will also take care of the AFM solenoid codes that would otherwise pop up when deleting DOD/AFM. When deleting the VVT system as well, it will not set cam/crank correlation codes either.
Turnaround time is typically 24hrs, sometimes even the same day we receive your ECM (2019+ may have additional lead time, see additional info below). We support almost every Gen 4 and Gen 5 ECMs Hybrid Gas/Electric models not supported.
Examples of supported models: 2007-14 FS Trucks incl. 2014 SUVs: Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Escalade, 2010-15 L99 Camaro, 2016+ Gen6 Camaro, 2008-09 G8, 2015-18 truck, 2015-2020 SUV, and 2019+ Non Global B trucks/SUVs; see next paragraph. Note: 2015+ vehicles incur extra licensing fees with HP Tuners.
2019+ E90 ECM: Starting in 2019 for Silverado/Sierra, and 2021 for most full-size SUVs, the E90 ECMs are locked by the OEM in a way that tuning software cannot manipulate the tune settings. In this case, we must send the ECM in to HP Tuners to be unlocked. The unlocking service, model licensing, and additional shipping/handling are the reason for the additional cost associated with the service. Due to the additional modification and handling time, plan for this to take 1-2 weeks for us to process and ship back to you.
If you have a 2019+ model and are unsure which ECM you have, it is easy to find. Remove the ECM from the vehicle and look at the sticker on the back side of the module. It should have a model name, either E92A or E90. If you have an E92A ECM, you want to select the 2017+ service above, this is the older unlocked modules. If you have an E90 ECM it will need to be unlocked, so you would select the 2019+ option above.
We do not support Global B E90s (2022.5-2024 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L and 6.2L V8, 2022.5-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5.3L and 6.2L V8, 2021-2023 GMC Yukon/Yukon XL 5.3L and 6.2L V8, 2021-2023 Chevrolet Suburban/Tahoe 5.3L and 6.2L V8, 2021-2023 Cadillac Escalade 6.2L V8).

Common Questions:
-Do I have to mechanically delete DOD from the engine to turn it off in the ECM? No! DOD/AFM can be turned off on stock vehicles and it will just run in 8cyl mode continuously as if it was never there.
-Do you recommend disabling DOD/AFM? Yes! With how common lifter failure has become on DOD/AFM engines, the theory is that it works the lifters less when not having to collapse and pump back up to go in and out of the 4cyl mode. This should extend the life of the lifters/engine.
-Will this affect fuel economy? Most people see little to no difference in fuel economy when turning off DOD/AFM!
-Can my vehicle “lose” this tuning over time? No! This is a permanent solution that should never come back, unless the ECM is flashed back to stock by a dealership or a handheld tuner. We do not recommend the use of handheld tuners once we have modified the ECM tuning. You may scan/clear codes as needed, and doing things like disconnecting the battery will not affect the tuning.
-Do I have to do anything special or perform any relearns when reinstalling the ECM? No! If the ECM was removed from a running vehicle, it should go back in without any relearns or any other necessary procedures.
-I am mechanically removing DOD/AFM. Do I really need to change the camshaft? YES! If you change the lifters to non-DOD lifters and mechanically remove the system, the camshaft must be changed. The stock cam will show misfires at idle and run rough. There are several affordable Non-DOD stock style cams available for most applications that will drop in with no custom tuning required. Give us a call for a recommendation!
-I am installing a performance cam, is this all I need or do I need performance tuning? With any aftermarket performance cam, we recommend a full performance tune, even if its as small as a stage 1. Usually an aftermarket cam will cause misfire codes, struggle to idle and generally have poor drivability unless properly tuned. The performance tune service is available from THIS LINK.
-Do you recommend deleting VVT? The VVT system is not problematic, but in some cases it is simpler to delete it than to keep it. Some aftermarket performance cams are designed to retain VVT, but in most cases you will see little to no difference with it removed or left active. On Gen-4 LS engines, it is important to change the timing cover to a non-VVT front cover (IE. the LS3 timing cover & cam sensor). You will need a standard cam sprocket with a 4x cam signal and a bolt pattern that matches your cam (1-bolt or 3-bolt), and the standard timing cover. Gen-5 LT/L8x engines simply use a cam phaser lockout that prevents the phaser from advancing or retarding.
