The quickest way to pick up horsepower in the new 5.3L direct-injected trucks is definitely with a blower! Using Magnacharger’s 2.3L supercharger kit, this truck went from quiet sleeper to…..fast quiet sleeper. A nice clean kit that bolts on in a couple of days, this was a simple way to add power. We also fabricated tubing to mate the Maggie to his current cold air intake, helping the blower to breathe in more effectively.
” In a word…Very professional looking too. Great job. I need to play with it some more / soak it in. Thanks for asking.”
Hailing from KY, this truck made the voyage for a complete makeover. Starting as a basic SS model, we threw almost everything we had at it – intake, Whipple 2.9L Supercharger kit, custom cam, our GT Series Fan Kit, Kooks headers, a fuel system, and more. We ended up with a 218/231 cam with a 114+2, tweaked to work as best as possible with the Whipple. Along with the cam we did a full cam install kit and Melling 10296. FIC injectors made sure we got enough fuel, and a 450 Walbro kept up the pressure for us. After this build this truck sounds awesome and has the performance to back it up!
“THANK YOU KELLY! Absolutely Thrilled ‘Love All That PCM Did to my SS!…Gosh She Is Bad Azz Looking Under The Hood AND From The Under Side! Them Kooks Headers, Kooks Y-Pipe Set And Scotts Exhaust Are Sweet & Detailed Ran Out The Back!! WoW!!! That Whipple & All The Other Installed Parts, Give ‘The Impression’ of a New Factory High Performance Look!! To say the very least Kelly, Just Amazing!”
After reaching out for a consultation, this 2002 Silverado customer came in for the install of our Stage 1 Truck Cam. Wanting to retain stock manifolds and a stock converter, we knew this cam would be the best bet for him. With the duration of 211/226 on a 114 LSA, this cam fit his needs by adding more power without sacrificing any driveability what so ever. We also added our cam install kit (link) and a fresh Melling 10296 during the install as well. Since we were removing the old clutch fan, it was also an ideal time to install our Electric Fan Kit – which is another easy 15rwhp!
“Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know I’m extremely happy with the work you guys did on my Silverado. The cam swap & tuning was exactly what I was looking for!”
Total make over for this 2013 5.3L Avalanche – this truck gets just a few more ponies from a custom PCM of NC cam, 232cc porting & polishing head work by Advanced Induction, and a TVS 2300 from Magnuson Superchargers! The build also featured Kooks 1 7/8″ Headers a converter from Yank Performance Converters. This truck has some serious get up and go after these modifications!
It’s so big it covers up our sign!! This Suburban is ready to conquer anything now after we installed a Magnuson Superchargers TVS 1900, and a set of Kooks Headers and Exhaust! Great sound, even better performance!
“Kelly, we love it!! It was money well spent! The shift points are crisp and it is so fun to drive! You guys did awesome! Although…I will need to get a bigger fuel tank now!! Haha!!”
This 2003 Silverado was looking for more get up and go than the tired 4.8L could offer. Our customer brought in a salvage LQ9 and had us add our Attitude V2 camshaft – a lopey cam that is daily driver friendly, yet still makes great power. To go along with the cam we used our Brian Tooley Deluxe Cam Install Kit and a Melling 10296 Oil Pump. We also added Kooks Headers, a Circle D torque converter, and custom built a cold air intake for this truck, netting 364 rwhp & 353 ft/lbs of tq through the heavy drivetrain and tires!
“Mornin Kelly! Yup havin a blast with it. You guys sell tires?? Kidding! Thanks for everything I think you landed in a good place with the truck (performance / daily driver).”
This 2014 5.3L silverado originally had an SLP centrifugal charger on it along with Kooks headers, and we swapped it out for a Magnacharger TVS 2300. While there was only an 18rwhp difference up top, the low end gains and also final torque gains were amazing! The truck picked up over 100rwhp and 200 ft/lbs of torque on the low end, showing why we prefer the roots type blowers for heavy towing vehicles such as this. The difference in torque at the upper end of the graph was almost 40 ft/lbs, which is also very impressive.
With no other mods and only 5 lbs of boost, this SLP kit picked up this 2014 5.3L Silverado more than 100rwhp! The final numbers were 420 rwhp & 426 ft/lbs tq. These kits are very rare, with SLP having only offered a handful of them. We had pulled this kit off of another Silverado that was swapping it for a Magnacharger. Probably both the first and last SLP centrifugal kit we will see!
Although the new 6.2L trucks pack a nice punch from the factory, this customer was looking for more power already. Wanting something simple yet potent, we fixed him up with a Magnacharger TVS 1900! This fantastic kit bolts on without major modifications, and makes great horsepower and torque, especially in the lower RPM’s where the trucks really need it.
Baselining at 356 rwhp & 397 ft/lbs tq, this truck was no slouch! With the addition of the Magnacharger at stock boost levels and no other modifications besides tuning this truck ended up at 482 rwhp & 503 ft/lbs of tq, for a difference of 126 rwhp & 106 ft/lbs of torque. The additional power is super smooth and is an excellent addition to the truck – one serious sleeper!
Looking for more power and torque for towing, we knew that this 2014 5.3L Silverado would benefit most from a roots-type supercharger like a Magnacharger. Wanting to retain stock driveability with better power, we decided on Magnacharger’s 2014 Silverado Kit, along with a set of Kooks 1 7/8″ headers to let it breathe properly. We baselined the truck on the dyno at 288 rwhp & 313 ft/lbs tq.
Magnacharger’s new kit makes for a nice install, and looks right at home on the new Gen V engine. The Kooks headers also fit very well, and will last for many years to come. We went down a couple of pulley sizes to recoup the boost that would have been otherwise lost with the headers.
Going back to the dyno after the install, we picked up 132 rwhp & 125 ft/lbs tq! Final numbers were 420 rwhp & 432 ft/lbs tq. The truck remained very quiet and kept stock driveability as well…until you touch the gas pedal and it starts accelerating! This package will make a large difference in every day driving and especially towing as well.
